Seamless Transition for Passport Holders:
Current holders of Ghanaian passports have the option to
transition to the new e-Passport at any point before the 2030 deadline,
regardless of their current passport's expiry date. Moving forward, all new
passport applications will be for the chip-embedded version.
This nationwide rollout follows a successful launch event
held on December 2, 2024, paving the way for this technological upgrade.
Decoding the e-Passport:
So, what exactly is a chip-embedded passport? At its
core, it's a passport that integrates a small electronic microprocessor chip within
its structure. This seemingly minor addition carries significant implications

The embedded chip securely stores the passport holder's
